Thankful Thursday

Happy Thankful Thursday to you!

I'm having a hard time keeping up with how fast the weeks are flying by.
It's slightly terrifying.

Anyway...
Today I am thankful for someone who means the world to me.
Her name is Lianne and she is ridiculously awesome.

Lianne and I grew up in a close proximity to each other,
but didn't actually meet until our 11th grade AP US History class.
Senior year we were in ASB together
and also worked at the same daycare center.

Prom throw back.

To be honest I'm not exactly sure how it all happened.
But somehow we found ourselves friends.
Really great friends.
The "I'm not sure what I would do with out you" friends.

Something I love about our friendship
is that Li and are very different from one another.
She is someone I look up to, someone I admire
and someone whose strengths and talents I would love to learn.

She is loving, compassionate, loyal, devoted and an absolute sweet heart.
She is bold, outgoing, independent, and a total go getter.
Nothing holds her back.
Nothing.

Since graduating high school,
our friendship has been long distance.
With her living in Northern California, London and Washington DC.
I love that no matter how far we are
or how long its been
we pick up exactly where we left off.

I'm so stinking thankful for you Li,
God has blessed me abundantly through you and through our friendship.
You have stood by me through so much.
and you have walked with me through big turning points in my life.

You were the reason I made it through our senior year of high school.
You were there when I found out I got into Cal poly,
but was rejected from Davis.
You were there when I had my heart broken by a guy for the first time
{and all the times after}.
You were there through all the ups and downs of college.
And now post college,
you are still standing with me through all that this life brings.

Li you have and continue to be
a constant source of encouragement and joy.
I am so unbelievably thankful for you,
that God has placed you in my life.
And I'm so thankful
that after two years of being on separate sides of the country,
we are now
{pretty much}
in the same place at the same time.

I just love you to pieces.

Who are you thankful for today?...

Flower's, Flower's, Flower's....

...and more flower's.

This past Sunday,
I got to make some fun, little flower arrangements
for a very lovely engagement party.

Mason jars
 Green button mums
White {stunning} spider mums
 White and yellow daisies
{the bride's favorite}
and some verigated Pittosporum.

I showed up to the house
and found my very own work space
all set up and ready for me.

Yes,
 I was in heaven.

The arrangements were
so simple,
so fun,
and so absolutely perfect for the evening.

It was a beautiful night.

Bring on the Blooms

Things are getting exciting
round these parts folks.

Along with spending my summer in full time supporting raising mode
I've also acquired myself a little side job.
Well more of a "funtivity" than a job I would say.

I have recently found myself in charge of the flowers
for a wedding that is bound to be epic.
{no pressure or anything}

The bride and the groom were actually a groomsman and bridesmaid
in the wedding I was also a bridesmaid in a couple weeks ago in Utah.
We actually met a few years back and
the story of how we've come to be friends is pretty cool.
I would definitely say it's a story of God's timing,
that I'm sure I'll be sharing soon.
{It's pretty neat}

Anyway they're pretty stinking awesome
and I'm so thrilled they're getting hitched!

This past afternoon I spent a little time
with the bride and her mom picking out the blooms for the big day
{that is quickly approaching}.

It was one big drool fest for me.
I was in heaven.

Gorgeous blooms everywhere I looked.
And the smell,
oh the smell of the flower mart.
A flood of memories came.
Of the years I spent working with flowers on a daily basis.
Made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

I'm guessing I will be a tad impatient the next couple weeks.
Waiting for the flowers to arrive,
waiting to finally put it all together
and of course waiting to watch another sweet friend walk down the aisle
and marry the man of her dreams.
Sigh.

Bring on the blooms!

Thankful Thursday

Happy Thankful Thursday friends!

Today I am thankful for
the ways in which the Lord uses people to touch our lives.
For the ways in which He uses people in our lives to point us back to Him.

It's always one's you never expect who sneak into your life
and change it without you realizing it.

I look back on moments in my life.
Moments of brokenness, impact, restoration, change,
moments where I am pointed back to Christ.
There was always someone the Lord provided to be there with me
who was spurring me on in some way.

I recently met someone who did just that.
Someone I thought was just one of those people you meet
and 3 seconds later forget their name.
I had no idea when I shook their hand,
the things the Lord would teach me through them.

I didn't know it at the time,
but my heart was in need of some realigning with the Lord's
and my prayer life was nothing to ride home about.
I then met this person,
and my life slowly began to shift.

Through my interactions with them,
the Lord reminded me of the uniqueness and beauty of a person's story.
No matter how messy or hard it may be everyone has one
and God shows up in them all,
the Lord peruses us whether we see it or not.
The Lord desires to be in relationship with every single person He created.
I was reminded when the Lord puts someone or something on your heart...
to pray, and pray, and pray some more.
And finally,
I was shown that the Lord places people in our lives for a purpose.

God used this person to change me.
Someone I hardly know,
someone I may never see again.
Someone who has no idea the impact they have left on my life.
Maybe one day I'll be able to tell them how God used them,
but for now I'm extremely thankful for where the Lord has it all...
 in His hands.

Thank you Lord,
for the people you bring in our lives
who point us to You.

What are you thankful for today?...

Horticultural Tendencies

You know you're a Horticulturist when...
you need to get out of the house,
you hop in your car
and make your way to the nearest garden center.

Where you spend time walking up and down the aisles
checking out the quality of the plants,
critiquing their care and maintenance,
 watching what people are buying,
and seeing what the current trend in gardening plants are.

And finally,
spending time dreaming up the garden you hope to one day have.
And let me tell you,
after today's garden center adventure
I dreamed up a pretty phenomenal garden.
Sigh.
Maybe one day...

nerdy
geeky
quirky
weird
call it what you may.
But I am a Horticulturist,
through and through.

The One Where I Admit I'm a Coffee Addict

You know you have a problem when
you miss your mornin cup o' joe
and you're completely out of commission for the day.

When your head pounds relentlessly,
your brain is fuzzy,
you can't funtion
and when you're just a plain grumpy pants.

You know you have a problem when
you get home from being gone all day
and the first thing you do is run to the kitchen to make coffee.

You know you have a problem when
it's 6pm and you have to run across the street to the super market
to buy this...

because after ravaging through your cupboards
you can't find coffee anywhere in the apartment.

You know you have a problem when it's 6:30 pm
and you brew yourself a full pot of coffee.
Enough for a cup now...
and a cup for later.

You know you have a problem when you start sipping on a cup of coffee
and suddenly your raging headache begins to disappear,
you're no longer a grumpy face
and you can finally start functioning like a normal human being.

Well shoot,
I have a serious problem.
